Upgrades Prisma from 6.13.0 to 7.10.1 (latest stable; npm's latest tag currently points at an 8.0 release candidate).
Driver adapter: v7 requires one, so every client now connects through @prisma/adapter-pg (node-postgres) instead of the Rust query engine.
Datasource URL moved from base.prisma into prisma.config.ts. It reads process.env.DATABASE_URL directly so prisma generate still works in CI and the Railway build without a database URL.
New prisma-client generator (replaces the deprecated prisma-client-js). The client is generated into a new @shapeshift/prisma workspace package (packages/prisma, generated output gitignored), and all @prisma/client imports now come from there. Model types, enums and the Prisma namespace keep their names.
Pool config lives in createPrismaAdapter(max) in that package. Each service runs a single replica, so pool size is set per service: swap-service 20, user-service 10, notifications-service 5, scripts 2. Every pool gets a 10s connect/acquire timeout (Prisma 6's pool wait; pg has none by default) and a 300s idle timeout (Prisma 6's value; pg defaults to 10s).
Missing DATABASE_URL now fails fast with a clear error. Without the check, pg silently falls back to localhost and the OS user.
Scripts, the Onramper local simulator, the Onramper Postgres test, docker compose, jest and eslint config are updated for the new package.
Railway watch patterns already cover packages/** and prisma/**, so merging triggers a rebuild of all three services. Steady-state connections total 35, and briefly about 70 while old and new containers overlap during a deploy, well within production's max_connections of 500.
Testing
Clean yarn build without DATABASE_URL: the client generates first, then packages and apps build (7/7)
Prisma 7 requires a driver adapter and reads the datasource URL from
prisma.config.ts instead of the schema. Services and scripts now connect
through @prisma/adapter-pg, with a 5s connect timeout to match v6.

Moves off the deprecated prisma-client-js generator. The client is now
generated into @shapeshift/prisma, which also owns the pg adapter and pool
config so every service and script connects the same way. Pool sizes are
set per service since each runs a single replica.

Fail fast when DATABASE_URL is missing instead of letting pg fall back to
libpq defaults, keep prisma 6's 10s pool wait, and declare the prisma
runtime deps on the package that uses them.

Walkthrough
The repository adds a shared Prisma package that generates and exports the Prisma client and provides a PostgreSQL adapter factory. Services, shared utilities, and scripts now import Prisma types or clients from the package and initialize clients with adapters.
Adds the @shapeshift/prisma package, exports a generated client and adapter factory, and configures Prisma 7 client generation, package compilation, and datasource settings.
Service and shared utility adoption apps/notifications-service/*, apps/swap-service/*, apps/user-service/*, packages/shared-utils/*
Services and shared utilities import Prisma types from @shapeshift/prisma. The three service Prisma clients use adapters with configured pool sizes. The Onramper test sets DATABASE_URL before constructing PrismaService when a test database URL is configured.
Affiliate payout and referral scripts use the shared client and adapter. Script types import from the shared package, and the local Onramper script constructs PrismaService without a datasource URL argument.
Workspace development and test wiring docker-compose.yml, jest.security.config.cjs, package.json
The development command includes the Prisma package, Jest maps the package to its source, and the Onramper setup script compiles the package.
Fresh-checkout tests and standalone payout or referral commands can fail before running. Prepare the Prisma client for those commands and restore the referral script’s documented environment behavior before merging.

Explanation
The title "chore: upgrade prisma to v7" names the main change. The PR upgrades Prisma from 6.13.0 to 7.10.1 (root devDependency and @prisma/client removal). It also adds a generated @shapeshift/prisma workspace package and moves services to the @prisma/adapter-pg driver adapter. The title covers the primary intent, and the adapter and package changes are supporting details that the title does not mention. The conventional-commit prefix "chore:" fits a dependency upgrade. The title is concise, specific, and easy to scan in history.

- Line 3: The @shapeshift/prisma import requires generated client files during
test module loading; add Prisma generation to the security test setup and make
the root test task depend on the Prisma package build so both test commands work
from a fresh checkout.
Review comments at @scripts/affiliate-payouts/affiliate-payouts.ts:
- Line 5: Update the root scripts for affiliate-payouts, affiliate-payouts:test,
and referral-rewards to run database generation and build packages/prisma before
their existing commands, so the generated Prisma client and package dist files
are available on a fresh checkout. Preserve each script’s existing command and
options after the setup steps.
Review comments at @scripts/referral-rewards.ts:
- Line 35: Load dotenv configuration at the referral-rewards entrypoint before
the module-level PrismaClient is created, so createPrismaAdapter(2) can read
DATABASE_URL from .env when it is not exported in the shell.
