VotingPlugin now supplies optional bounded setup/runtime facts for Network Doctor, and BungeeCord/Velocity registration reports installed plugin names through the existing detectedPlugins field. New diagnostics negotiate both data.inspect.v1 and data.network-health.v1; unsupported fields are omitted rather than presented as healthy.

Facts include configured/active transport, backend/proxy identity and relevant safe settings, observed topology and routing applicability, storage driver/pool state and non-reversible fingerprints, Vote Site validation and persisted service observations, and a bounded persistence-retry count. Optional VotifierPlus snapshots provide listener and enabled forwarding entry names only, with no hard dependency or exposed endpoints/keys. No vote processing, forwarding, reward execution or configuration write semantics change.

Validation: focused protocol/diagnostic/cache tests pass; full mvn -B -f VotingPlugin/pom.xml test passes 1,845 tests; package passes the same tests plus all 5 packaged artifact checks, using the exact candidate VotifierPlus JAR in the optional integration test. Tests cover both platform inventory adapters, mixed capability negotiation, invalid/incomplete facts, and shutdown cancellation. Candidate Bukkit/BungeeCord/Velocity payloads validate against Control's actual strict schema. Diff/credential checks pass. Fresh independent read-only review: No findings.

The downloadable artifact is 10,530,925 bytes; the existing 10 MiB advisory remains a warning, not a failing build.

Paired Control and optional VotifierPlus changes are independently deployable in either order; old peers and deployments without Control continue normally.

Fixes proxy settings returning VALIDATION_ERROR for Control’s canonical configuration union: neutral null/empty members are accepted without accepting populated foreign members or unknown fields. Compact envelopes remain compatible; READ/PREVIEW remain read-only and APPLY keeps its revision/approval workflow.

Unmodified NuVotifier 2.7.2/2.7.3 on BungeeCord and Velocity is supported by a bounded read-only adapter for recognized runtime shapes. Tests use the actual released JARs for socket forwarding, filtered plugin messaging and online-player fallback routing. No NuVotifier upgrade or code change is needed; unsupported/null state remains UNKNOWN, and backend synthetic VotifierEvent compatibility remains distinct from a second forwarding path.

Related: BenCodez/VotingPlugin-Control#26 (health model/UI), #1689 (diagnostic producers), BenCodez/VotifierPlus#186 (optional safe snapshot).

Review follow-up: legacy missing socket-peer sections are safe; malformed inspection kinds use typed validation; recovery-only connectors drain recorded results without claiming new diagnostics or reporting plugin inventory; claimed collection failures settle with generic messages; broken optional provider linkage is isolated; Velocity carries a bounded overflow sentinel so capped inventories cannot prove forwarding disabled. All 66 focused regressions and the full test/package builds pass; independent focused review: No findings.

Inspection attempts remain opaque: proxy network-health accepts bounded non-UUID attempt strings, echoes them unchanged, and still validates inspection IDs as UUIDs. The opaque-ID and oversize-ID regression passes alongside candidate Votifier integration and full test/package builds.

Inventory follow-up: Bukkit omits the optional network-health plugin inventory when it exceeds 100 entries or any entry cannot be represented completely. Exactly 100 valid names remain available; oversized and control-character inventories have behavioral regression coverage. The existing diagnostics truncation marker is unchanged.

Query settlement follow-up: malformed proxy inspection queries settle with generic VALIDATION_ERROR after validated inspection/attempt IDs. No diagnostic snapshot is collected and no input values are echoed. Missing/non-object query and filters, unknown fields, and wrong kind types are tested on BungeeCord and Velocity; the next valid task completes immediately. Malformed task identifiers remain protocol failures.

Reward-facts follow-up: backend VoteParty enabled/required-vote and ResetMilestonesMonthly facts now come exclusively from SpecialRewards.yml. Stale similarly named Config.yml keys cannot override them. Regressions cover conflicting source values and malformed SpecialRewards values.

Keep the downloadable VotingPlugin JAR as small as practical. The 10 MiB size target is advisory:

Keep required-resource, linkage, and packaging-safety checks enforced. Inspect the shaded

the package-phase size and runtime checks when a necessary dependency increases

## Network Doctor diagnostics

`network-health` requires both `data.inspect.v1` and `data.network-health.v1`. It is read-only, bounded, optional, and
compatible with unsupported peers in either deployment order. Omit unobserved facts; never infer runtime initialization
from persisted settings or adapter presence alone. Do not return raw configuration, logs, endpoints, credentials, keys or
certificates. Backend Votifier plus TriggerVotifierEvent is valid synthetic-event compatibility; proxy VotifierPlus socket
forwarding alongside VotingPlugin delivery is a separate duplicate risk. See the connector/agent contract docs.

The backend advertises and checks the network-health capability. Its inspection reports validated configuration, storage, transport authentication, and vote-site facts. Tests cover fact validation and capability negotiation.
Proxy diagnostic sources
VotingPlugin/src/main/java/com/bencodez/votingplugin/proxy/VotingPluginProxy.java, VotingPlugin/src/main/java/com/bencodez/votingplugin/proxy/{bungee,velocity}/*, VotingPlugin/src/main/java/com/bencodez/votingplugin/proxy/security/*, VotingPlugin/src/main/java/com/bencodez/votingplugin/control/OptionalVotifierDiagnostics.java, VotingPlugin/src/main/java/com/bencodez/votingplugin/proxy/cache/VoteCacheHandler.java, related tests
Proxy adapters expose plugin inventories and diagnostic providers. Helpers report authentication fingerprints, pending persistence counts, and bounded observations from optional Votifier providers.
Proxy inspection polling and results

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 7e766

The new diagnostics remain authenticated, read-only, capability-gated, and bounded. No introduced security issue was established in the inspected paths. Remaining uncertainty concerns authorization and handling of stale or repeated results on the receiving side.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The new disclosure includes the reporting node's settings and inventories, plus names of configured backend and multi-proxy peers. Access to results therefore reveals associated network metadata, not merely an isolated node's health. Maximum controller-wide or tenant-wide exposure depends on receiving-side authorization that was not available.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — Inspection instructions arrive through the existing authenticated Control connection. Client-side controls constrain execution to negotiated diagnostic kinds, strict proxy query shapes, canonical inspection IDs, bounded attempt IDs, and fixed node/session result routing. No arbitrary command, configuration-write, or forwarding dispatch is introduced by the inspected network-health handler.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — Proxy completion checks closure but does not re-check registration or negotiated capabilities after a claim is admitted. Connector settings, transport, and session identity remain fixed, limiting the demonstrated consequence to completion under an earlier negotiation rather than delivery to a different identity. Receiving-side stale-attempt rejection remains unverified.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Make the inspection lifetime contract explicit: define whether an admitted read survives re-registration or capability withdrawal, and document receiving-side session, attempt, expiration, and duplicate-result enforcement. If withdrawal must stop admitted work, revalidate negotiation before collection and submission.

P2 Badge Default missing socket peer sections to an empty list

On an upgraded Bungee installation whose existing bungeeconfig.yml lacks MultiProxyServers, this unconditional call reaches BungeeConfig#getMultiProxyServers(), where getSection("MultiProxyServers").getKeys() dereferences a null section. With MultiProxySupport disabled, startup previously skipped that getter, but every network-health request now fails instead of returning diagnostics; handle the absent section as empty or unknown before copying it.

P2 Badge Type-check inspection kind before capability gating

When a claimed query contains a non-primitive kind, such as {"kind":null}, this capability guard calls getAsString() before ControlInspectionService performs its typed validation. Gson throws here, and the generic catch converts the malformed request to INSPECTION_FAILED rather than the expected VALIDATION_ERROR; check that kind is a string or defer this gate until after schema validation.

## Runtime and security invariants

4. Capabilities are explicit and versioned. Do not dispatch a task merely because its JSON shape looks familiar. An
   unaccepted capability must remain inactive. Control and the node both enforce fixed quick-setup preset/option schemas;
keep phase-specific validation here even when Control already rejected the same input.

P2 Badge Preserve completeness when capping Velocity providers

When Velocity has more than 128 installed plugins, this truncates the collection before OptionalVotifierDiagnostics sees it, so that helper incorrectly leaves inventoryComplete true. If a Votifier provider within the prefix reports forwarding disabled while another active Votifier/VotifierPlus provider lies beyond the cutoff, Network Doctor reports votifierForwardingEnabled:false and hides the duplicate-forwarding risk instead of treating it as unknown; pass the full collection to the bounded helper or propagate an explicit incomplete-inventory signal.

P2 Badge Treat inspection attempt IDs as opaque

When Control supplies a valid non-UUID attempt ID, this UUID conversion throws before the proxy executes or acknowledges the inspection, leaving the task to be repeatedly leased while this lane backs off. docs/control-agent-contract.md explicitly defines attemptId as opaque; validate only inspectionId as a UUID and echo the attempt ID unchanged.

P2 Badge Mark truncated backend plugin inventories as incomplete

When a Bukkit server has more than 100 installed plugins, this emits only the first 100 names without a truncation/completeness marker. An integration whose name sorts after the cutoff is therefore indistinguishable from one that is genuinely absent, so Network Doctor may report a false diagnosis instead of treating the inventory as unknown; either omit the incomplete inventory or expose its incompleteness as the existing diagnostics inspection does.

P2 Badge Return a validation result for malformed inspection queries

When Control leases a network-health task with an unknown filter, a missing/non-object filters, or another invalid query shape, this check throws before posting any result. The lease is therefore retried indefinitely while the inspection lane backs off, whereas invalid query/filter fields should be acknowledged with VALIDATION_ERROR so one bad task cannot stall subsequent diagnostics.

P2 Badge Read backend reward facts from SpecialRewards.yml

addBackend looks for VoteParty.Enabled, VoteParty.VotesRequired, and ResetMilestonesMonthly, but this call supplies Config.yml; those settings are stored in SpecialRewards.yml. A normal backend therefore omits the actual values, while any obsolete similarly named keys left in Config.yml could be reported as current, causing Network Doctor to diagnose stale configuration instead of the runtime settings. Read these facts from plugin.getSpecialRewardsConfig().getData() separately.
