An index of our live projects: data-driven tools, directories, and guides for starting and running a business in the United States.
Everything we publish follows the same principle: every figure is read from an official government source — a Secretary of State portal, a state statute, or a federal dataset — and re-verified on a schedule. No numbers copied from blogs, no guesses.
Independent, research-driven guides to forming a legal entity in the U.S. Includes an interactive LLC cost calculator and a 50-state annual report fee table, both built on fee data verified directly from official state portals.
A nationwide directory of Secretary of State business entity searches. Every state runs its own search tool with its own quirks; EntitySearch documents each one — direct search links, what the results show, and state-by-state filing facts. Start with the Secretary of State business search directory.
Checks and guides for business name availability across all 50 states and DC: how each state's name rules work, what makes a name distinguishable, and what a name reservation costs. The 51-jurisdiction name reservation comparison covers every state's fee, duration, and renewal terms.
State-by-state LLC comparison: formation fees, annual report requirements, processing times, and compliance rules, presented side by side so you can compare jurisdictions before you file.
Census-backed business formation statistics — built on the U.S. Census Bureau's Business Formation Statistics (BFS) — combined with industry × state startup guides that pair real application data with practical formation steps.
A Turkish-language guide for founders starting a U.S. company from Turkey: entity types, state selection, costs, taxes, and step-by-step filing walkthroughs — with the same verified state data behind the English-language sites, translated and localized for a Turkish audience.
The fee, filing, and compliance figures behind these sites come from a single internally maintained dataset covering all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Its sourcing policy:
- Official publishers only. Values are read from state government websites and statutes — never from commercial blogs or marketing sites.
- Traceability. Every value is tied to the official URL it was read from, with a verification date.
- Scheduled re-verification. States change fees; records carry a
last_verifieddate and are re-checked, not assumed. - No fabrication. Where a state doesn't publish a figure, the sites say so rather than estimating.
Each site consumes a pinned snapshot of this dataset and is rebuilt when the data updates, so the numbers you see on any of the sites above reflect a known, verified state of the research.
Found an outdated figure on one of the sites? Open an issue in this repository with the page URL and the official source showing the current value — corrections are folded into the next data verification pass.
