Node 26 removed --experimental-transform-types (nodejs/node#61803). Every script that passes it now exits before running:

$ pnpm install        # on Node 26.12.0
. postinstall$ pnpm update-tsconfigs
node: bad option: --experimental-transform-types

Because postinstall runs update-tsconfigs, a fresh pnpm install fails on Node 26. So do the root build / new-package / update-readme / measure scripts and every package's dev / build script.

This replaces the flag with --experimental-strip-types in the root, site, template and all packages/* package.json files: 88 files, one token per script, nothing else. None of the files under scripts/ uses syntax that needs transforming (enums, namespaces, parameter properties, import =), so stripping types is enough. The transform flag already required Node 22.7+, and --experimental-strip-types exists since 22.6, so the supported range doesn't shrink.

Tested:

  • Node 26.12.0: pnpm install --frozen-lockfile fails before (exit 9, bad option) and succeeds after. pnpm update-readme and pnpm build in packages/timer work too.
  • Node 22.7.0: update-tsconfigs, update-readme and the timer build run with the new flag.
  • The regenerated tsconfig.json / README.md files came out identical to the committed ones, so they're not part of the PR.

No changeset, since only dev scripts change and nothing published is affected. Happy to add one if you'd like.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Chores
    • Updated development, build, site-generation, and maintenance commands across the project to use Node’s TypeScript type-stripping mode.
    • Standardized command behavior across the project’s packages and templates for more consistent local development and build workflows.
    • No changes were made to exported functionality or public interfaces.

Node 26 removed --experimental-transform-types, so on Node 26 every
script that passed it failed with 'bad option', including the postinstall
hook, which made a fresh pnpm install fail.

Align the Node engine range with --experimental-strip-types.

Node 22.0–22.5 does not support --experimental-strip-types. These versions still satisfy the declared >=22.0.0 engine range, so pnpm install can reach postinstall, then pnpm update-tsconfigs exits before running. Raise the minimum to 22.6.0, or provide a fallback that does not use this flag on earlier Node versions.

Suggested fix
-    "node": ">=22.0.0"
+    "node": ">=22.6.0"

Apply the same engine update to site/package.json.
