feat(chain-adapters): add aptos chain support - #12349
Adds Aptos as a second-class chain behind VITE_FEATURE_APTOS: native wallet support, balances, send, and tx status. Swaps (NEAR Intents) follow in a separate PR.
hdwallet-native: Ed25519 signer on m/44'/637'/<account>'/0'/0', the same addresses as Petra. It signs the raw BCS transaction and returns a broadcast-ready signed transaction.
Chain adapter:
Balances: from the Aptos indexer, paged, non-zero primary stores only. Amounts beyond 2^53 are read from the node so they stay exact.
Sends: coins via aptos_account::transfer_coins<T>, fungible assets via primary_fungible_store::transfer.
Fees: one simulation of the real transfer, priced at real slow/average/fast gas prices. The fee shown is the max gas the transaction signs (simulated gas + 20%) × price, which is what the chain requires the sender to hold. The actual charge is the gas used, so it comes in a little lower. The selected tier is the one signed, with no re-estimate at send.
Requests: authenticated with an Aptos Build API key (VITE_APTOS_API_KEY). The key is restricted by origin.
Asset data:
Sources: CoinGecko tokens, as coin:<move type> or fungible:<metadata address>.
Paired tokens: a token that exists as both a coin and a paired fungible asset is listed once, under its coin type. The indexer reports balances under that key, and both transfer functions spend from the same store.
Cleanup: CoinGecko entries that aren't real fungible assets are dropped.
CoinGecko lookups: CoinGecko lists and related-asset lookups resolve the same ids.
App: plugin, feature flag, env and CSP, account derivation, portfolio, send modal, and tx status. Failed sends are marked failed.
Fix (all non-EVM chains): account discovery now counts token balances, not just the native balance. Before this, discovery stopped at an account that held only tokens.
High risk: a new transaction type and a new native wallet signing path. Production is gated by VITE_FEATURE_APTOS=false.
What protocols, transaction types, wallets or contract interactions might be affected by this PR?
New: Aptos transfers signed by the native wallet. Other wallets don't support Aptos, so it stays hidden for them.
Existing chains: account discovery on Solana, Tron, Sui, NEAR, Starknet and TON now also counts token balances.
Testing
Engineering
Setup:
Run pnpm run dev:web:localhost and open http://localhost:3000. The Aptos API key only allows that origin locally, so pnpm run dev (portless) gets 401s.
Connect a native wallet. The Aptos flag is already on in .env.development.
Fund the Aptos account (step 1 below) with about 1 APT and one token. USDt is a fungible asset; LayerZero USDC is a coin type. You can buy either with a swap in Petra.
Steps:
Account: Manage Accounts → Aptos. The address matches what Petra shows for the same mnemonic.
Balances: APT and the token show with USD values, and the token appears once.
Send APT: send a small amount at average speed. The fee charged on the explorer is at or below the fee shown, about 15–20% lower.
Send token: send part of the token balance. It succeeds and the balances update.
Send Max: Send Max APT succeeds and leaves the account at ~0.
New recipient: sending to a never-funded address shows a higher fee, for account creation.
History: each send shows in history with the right amount and fee, and the action center marks it complete.
Unit tests: pnpm exec vitest run packages/chain-adapters/src/aptos packages/hdwallet-native/src/aptos.test.ts src/state/slices/portfolioSlice/utils
Operations
🏁 My feature is behind a flag and doesn't require operations testing (yet)
When the flag is turned on:
With a native wallet, open Manage Accounts and turn on Aptos. An Aptos account appears.
Receive some APT. The balance shows on the dashboard.
Send some APT to another Aptos address. The fee charged on the explorer is at or a little below the fee shown, and the send shows in history.
Repeat with an Aptos token such as USDt.
Connect a non-native wallet (e.g. Ledger or MetaMask). Aptos does not appear.
Added Aptos mainnet support for compatible wallets, including account and token balances, address generation, transaction signing and sending, fee estimates, and transaction status tracking.
Added Aptos assets and token discovery, with availability controlled by a feature flag.
Added Aptos chain information to supported asset and public API listings.
Bug Fixes
Account balances now refresh after failed actions as well as completed ones.
It looks like this branch is under active development. To avoid overwhelming you with review comments due to an influx of new commits, CodeRabbit has automatically paused this review. You can configure this behavior by changing the reviews.auto_review.auto_pause_after_reviewed_commits setting.
This change adds feature-flagged Aptos mainnet support. It adds chain identifiers, Native wallet capabilities, a chain adapter, Aptos asset handling, configuration, account derivation, sending, portfolio data, and transaction status handling. Aptos trade execution remains unsupported in the changed trade hooks.

Explanation
The reviewed changes support the Aptos integration in issue #12348. They include wallet derivation and signing, the chain adapter, asset data, feature gating, portfolio and send integration, transaction status handling, public chain registration, and the related non-EVM token-balance discovery fix. No reviewed change has a demonstrated lack of connection to the linked issue.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue #12348 directly requires NEAR Intents swaps into and out of APT and Aptos assets. The current PR description defers swaps, and the reviewed changes do not add Aptos routes or route tests. Issue #12348 also requires fee estimation based on sim.gas_used * 1.5; AptosChainAdapter.getFeeData instead uses fee-statement gas and a 6/5 cap. The reviewed changes do not include the required v334 migration or e2e/fixtures/aptos-chain-integration.yaml. Native wallet, balances, sends, asset data, and app wiring are present.
Resolution
Implement and test the NEAR Intents Aptos routes required by #12348. Update Aptos fee estimation to use sim.gas_used * 1.5 as specified by the issue. Add the required v334 state migration and e2e/fixtures/aptos-chain-integration.yaml, or provide reviewable evidence that these requirements are implemented elsewhere in this pull request.

valid=false; ensure you still return the appropriate
ValidAddressResultType.Valid or ValidAddressResultType.Invalid values and keep

Resolves all 9 actionable comments from the CodeRabbit review on the
Aptos chain integration PR.
Chain adapter (packages/chain-adapters/src/aptos/AptosChainAdapter.ts):
- validateAddress now uses AccountAddress.fromString() from the SDK,
which correctly accepts both short-form (0x1) and full-form Aptos
addresses, instead of a rigid regex that rejected 0x1.
- parseTx status logic now handles all three cases explicitly: success
=== true → Confirmed, false → Failed, undefined (pending tx) →
Pending. Previously undefined was incorrectly treated as Confirmed.
- Sender/recipient equality now goes through AccountAddress.equals via
a normalized eq() helper so casing/length variants of the same Aptos
address compare correctly.
- buildSendApiTransaction now honors chainSpecific.coinType so non-APT
CoinStore coins on Aptos can be transferred via NEAR Intents (or any
future swapper).
Aptos types (packages/chain-adapters/src/aptos/types.ts):
- BuildTxInput gains coinType?: string (Aptos CoinStore type, defaults
to APT).
NEAR Intents Aptos route
(packages/swapper/src/swappers/NearIntentsSwapper/endpoints.ts):
- getUnsignedAptosTransaction detects non-native Aptos coins via
assetNamespace (slip44 = native APT, otherwise assetReference is the
Move CoinStore type) and forwards coinType to the chain adapter.
Aptos swap status check (packages/swapper/src/utils.ts):
- checkAptosSwapStatus normalizes recipient addresses via
AccountAddress before comparing, replacing the substring-style
t.to.includes(address) check.
Aptos util (src/lib/utils/aptos.ts):
- isAptosChainAdapter type guard now checks that getChainId is a
function and wraps the call in try/catch so plain objects can't
throw.
Native HDWallet (packages/hdwallet-native/src/aptos.ts):
- aptosNextAccountPath now delegates to core.aptosNextAccountPath
instead of throwing.
Treasury (packages/utils/src/treasury.ts):
- Drop KnownChainIds.AptosMainnet from treasuryChainIds and remove the
placeholder DAO_TREASURY_APTOS constant. The Aptos treasury entry
will be added when the real DAO multisig address is available.
Treasury helpers
(packages/swapper/src/swappers/utils/helpers/helpers.ts):
- Drop the AptosMainnet entry from DAO_TREASURY_BY_CHAIN_ID.
Ledger constants (src/context/WalletProvider/Ledger/constants.ts):
- Remove conditional inclusion of aptosAssetId from
availableLedgerAppAssetIds. LedgerHDWallet does not implement
AptosWallet; Aptos Ledger support will land in a focused follow-up
PR with physical-device testing.
Tests (packages/chain-adapters/src/aptos/AptosChainAdapter.test.ts):
- vi.mock now keeps the real exports of @aptos-labs/ts-sdk
(AccountAddress, Ed25519PublicKey, etc.) and only mocks the
network-using Aptos client, AptosConfig, and Network. Without this,
the new AccountAddress.equals comparisons would throw silently.
- validateAddress test cases updated to reflect the SDK's behavior:
short-form (0x1) and unprefixed full-form are now accepted; only
truly malformed inputs are rejected.

Rebased on latest develop to resolve the merge conflicts. Since this branch was cut, develop gained a public-api chain list and real chain adapter wiring in swapperDeps, so the rebase also registers the aptos chain type there. No functional changes to the integration itself. CI should be green again.

The Aptos node, when called with estimate_max_gas_amount=true,
overwrites max_gas_amount in the response with the sender's
AFFORDABILITY ceiling (balance / gas_unit_price), NOT a tight
recommendation. Reading that field as the gas estimate caused
fees to be inflated by 100-300x.
For a wallet holding 1.08 APT at gas_unit_price=100, the node
returned max_gas_amount=1,084,352. Multiplied by the prioritized
gas estimate (150 octas), the displayed network fee came out to
1.62 APT (~\$1.54) for what should be a ~0.01 APT transfer.
Fix: prefer sim.gas_used (real simulated consumption) with the
Aptos CLI's 1.5x safety factor (gas_used * 3 / 2). Cap at the
affordability ceiling defensively. Bump MIN_MAX_GAS_AMOUNT from
12,000 to 20,000 to safely cover real transfer_coins consumption
(historical on-chain: 5,500-10,500 units) when simulation fails
(e.g., dummy pubkey rejected by INVALID_AUTH_KEY).

Responses to the follow-up and nitpick findings in the last review (none are changed in this PR):
src/constants/chains.ts:88, chain list read at module load: every feature-flagged chain is handled this way. Making it reactive is a cross-chain change.
parser.ts:96-98, ledger version stored as blockHeight: this is deliberate. The version is Aptos' monotonic transaction ordering, the same way TON stores its logical time, and fetching the containing block would cost an extra request per transaction for a field the UI barely reads.
hdwallet-core/src/wallet.ts:413-419, as any in supportsAptos / infoAptos: these follow the existing guards in that file, as the finding notes.
AptosChainAdapter.test.ts mock typing and the aptosNextAccountPath wallet-level test: we're keeping new tests to user data and funds logic.
Sign and broadcast test with a fixed key: skipped for this PR. The hdwallet test pins the derived addresses and a signature against the Aptos SDK.

Add explicit return types to the new Aptos balance methods.
The **/*.{ts,tsx} guideline requires explicit return types, and other private methods in packages/chain-adapters/src declare them. getExactBalance can return Promise<string>, because both of its return paths produce a string. Annotate getBalances with its explicit result type.
As per coding guidelines: "ALWAYS use explicit types for function parameters and return values."

We couldn't verify this from the code. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.
getAptosPairedCoinType interpolates the node's account_address without canonicalizing it; toAssetId does not normalize Aptos references. A padded node address may therefore produce a different coin asset ID from the address form used by balance producers.
Generated pricing or asset metadata may not join the balance for that token.
This can occur when: The view returns a padded account_address such as 0x000…001 for a paired coin whose balance entry uses 0x1::module::Token.

Nitpicks from the latest review: not adding explicit return types to hexToUtf8, getBalances and getExactBalance. They are inferred exactly from their return statements (string, the mapped balance entries, Promise<string>), and annotating getBalances would mean restating that shape by hand.
Note: CodeRabbit is an incremental review system and does not re-review already reviewed commits. This command is applicable only when automatic reviews are paused.
Check maxGasAmount against the sender's APT balance before sending.
The send checks compare the balance with txFee, but the transaction reserves maxGasAmount × gasUnitPrice, about 20% more. If the balance falls between these two amounts, the send passes the UI check and the node rejects it at submission with INSUFFICIENT_BALANCE_FOR_TRANSACTION_FEE. Make the native APT balance check use the reserved maximum.

Fail the Aptos refresh instead of writing a dataset without Aptos tokens.
When coingecko.getAssets(aptosChainId) rejects, getAssets logs the error and returns only the native APT asset. generateAssetData.ts then writes a new ASSET_DATA_PATH file built only from the assets it received, so previously generated Aptos tokens are dropped. Rethrow the rejection, so generation stops before the write and the previous file remains.
Suggested direction
In getAssets, replace the return [] fallback with a rethrow of result.reason, so a failed CoinGecko fetch aborts generation before fs.promises.writeFile(ASSET_DATA_PATH, ...).

The exported helper has no return type annotation, which the repository's TypeScript guideline requires. Handle failed Aptos lookups during CoinGecko parsing, or document that a single lookup failure stops generation.
parseCoingeckoData now awaits one Aptos fullnode paired_coin request per Aptos fungible asset. A timeout or transport error rejects the whole parse. That rejection stops generateAssetData and no asset data file is written.
Context for the change
The parser was synchronous at the merge base and made no network calls. Decide whether a failed lookup should skip the asset, keep its unindexed ID, or fail the run. Any fallback must not map an asset to the wrong CoinGecko ID.

Add an explicit return type to deriveNode.
deriveNode returns { nodeAdapter, publicKey } with an inferred type. The other methods in this class declare return types. The nodeAdapter type comes from this.nodeAdapter.derivePath(...), so take it from the Isolation.Adapters.Ed25519 declaration.

getAccount identifies native APT with a raw asset_type === APT_COIN_TYPE comparison. If the indexer returns an equivalent coin type with a differently formatted address, the balance is treated as a token instead.
The account reports a zero native balance and may show APT as a separate token, affecting fee and send availability.
This can occur when: The indexer reports the APT coin type with a padded 0x1 address or another valid canonical representation.
⚠️Unverified finding
We couldn't verify this from the code. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.
Every Axios response with a numeric vm_error_code is classified as a non-fungible metadata address and converted to null. A VM failure unrelated to that classification could therefore silently remove a valid Aptos token from the generated mapping.
The token is omitted from generated CoinGecko and Aptos asset data instead of making the generation failure visible.
This can occur when: The fullnode reports a numeric VM error for a listed, valid fungible metadata address because of a view-function or ledger-state problem rather than because it is not metadata.

Replies to the latest review's follow-ups and additional comments:
maxGasAmount vs the sender's APT balance (AptosChainAdapter.ts): fixed in d2c86b0, with a different fix than suggested. The SDK raises max gas to at least 2000 units, so the chain made accounts hold about 0.002 APT even for a transfer costing about 0.00015. The adapter now signs its own max gas, 1.2× the simulated gas, which is well above the chain's minimum of about 28 units. The displayed txFee is now maxGasAmount × gasUnitPrice, the amount the chain requires the sender to hold, so the send form's balance check and Send Max match what the chain enforces.
Checked live by simulating the exact signed bytes on every tier: APT Send Max for 15 wallets, including 7 holding about 0.002 APT that the old floor rejected, and full-balance USDt (fungible asset) and LayerZero USDC (coin) sends.
In every simulation the signed reserve equaled the fee shown, and the charge was lower.
Fail the Aptos refresh when CoinGecko fails (scripts/generateAssetData/aptos/index.ts): keeping as is. All 14 per-chain generators use the same Promise.allSettled log-and-continue pattern, and Aptos follows it.
Return type on getAptosAssetNamespace: fixed in 4613d2e (AssetNamespace).
Failed Aptos lookups during CoinGecko parsing: failing the run is deliberate. Skipping the token or keeping the unindexed id could pair a token with the wrong CoinGecko listing, and a failed run leaves the previous generated files in place. Each lookup has a 10s timeout.
APT identified by a plain asset_type comparison: keeping as is. The indexer writes framework addresses in short 0x1 form. Live checks against holders of every listed token found APT reported as the native balance each time.
Numeric vm_error_code treated as non-metadata: fixed in 97ea868. Only a Move abort (4016) is treated as "not fungible asset metadata". That's what paired_coin returns for non-metadata addresses, checked live, while a real fungible asset with no paired coin returns an empty option. Any other VM failure now stops generation.
