feat(swap-service): track externally paid swaps and detect their deposit on chain - #67
Conversation
…lands Chainflip and NEAR Intents swaps can be registered from a quote alone, since the paying transaction is sent from any wallet and only the provider sees it. Poll those rows from registration, look the deposit up by the quote metadata (broker swapId / deposit address), and write the sell tx hash as soon as it is reported so the existing hash-gated status, verification and attribution paths take over unchanged. …e its deposit is seen A shielded zcash spend has no input the provider can attribute, so NEAR Intents completes the swap without ever reporting a sell tx hash. The hash-less branch only looked the deposit up and never asked for status, which left such a swap pending until the stall timeout. Status is now polled from registration and the hash is filled in whenever it appears. …eports it A shielded zcash spend into a NEAR Intents deposit address has no input the provider can attribute, so it completes the swap without an origin hash and verification and attribution, which key on the sell tx, never run. When the provider reports nothing, the deposit address's own history on the sell chain is searched for the earliest transaction paying into it without spending from it. A swap that settled before its deposit was found stays in the poll set for a day so the hash is filled in afterwards, without re-sending its completion notification. …he swapper itself @shapeshiftoss/swapper 20.1.0 reports an externally paid swap's sell tx hash and flags the swappers that support external payment, so the service no longer asks the providers itself or keeps its own list. The on-chain scan stays for deposits the provider never reports, and the tracker link the swapper already returned is now written to the row. The lockfile still resolved 20.0.0 while package.json asked for 20.1.0, since the version was published after the bump. Installing from the registry also pulls the swapper's own dependency bumps (bob-sdk, viem, ox, utils). The @shapeshiftoss/types pin moves to 9.0.1 so the service and the swapper share one copy instead of two. A settled externally paid swap stays in the poll set until its deposit hash is known. A provider error on one of those polls resolves to PENDING, which the poller wrote over SUCCESS and then, on the next healthy poll, wrote SUCCESS again and re-sent the completion notification. A settled swap now only ever has its hashes written. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01AFNmRi6qL59A9otxNYW5CW
…on chain The chain scan deliberately returns an unmined deposit so the hash shows up as early as possible, but the stored hash then short-circuited every later poll. A fee-bumped deposit confirmed under a different txid the provider reported and the service never adopted, leaving attribution looking up a dead hash. The provider's hash now takes precedence over the stored one. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01AFNmRi6qL59A9otxNYW5CW
…new hash A hash-only poll wrote the hash but kept the previous status message, so a row showed its deposit hash next to "Waiting for deposit...". The message is now written with the hashes; the notification path is untouched. …kups The block time and deposit detection services each built the same five utxo clients from the same env vars. Both now read one helper and one URL map. A NEAR Intents row without a deposit address is also skipped up front instead of throwing into the catch on every poll. Only a shielded zcash spend leaves NEAR Intents without an input to attribute; every other chain's deposit is reported by the provider. The scan was built for all five utxo chains and ran on every poll of any hash-less NEAR swap, so it now builds a single zcash client and returns early for any other sell chain. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01AFNmRi6qL59A9otxNYW5CW
The tracker-link case also reported a sell hash the row lacked, so it reached the hash writer through that path rather than the link alone. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01AFNmRi6qL59A9otxNYW5CW
… lib The cosmos-sdk and solana URLs joined the utxo map alongside the client helper, so the block time service no longer reads env itself. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01AFNmRi6qL59A9otxNYW5CW
…n id A swap's chainId is a plain ChainId string, so comparing it to the KnownChainIds enum member tripped the unsafe enum comparison rule. The chain adapters already compare against caip's chain id constants. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01AFNmRi6qL59A9otxNYW5CW

…wap succeeds A success has to carry the transaction that verification and attribution check, so a swap the provider confirms without a sell tx hash now stays pending, with a message saying why, until unchained finds the deposit. Only a shielded zcash spend reaches that state; every other chain's hash arrives with settlement. The settled-without-hash poll branch and the poller's guard against reopening a settled swap are gone with it, since neither state exists any more. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01AFNmRi6qL59A9otxNYW5CW
NEAR Intents itself does not act on a mempool transaction, so the scan now ignores anything without a block height rather than settling the swap on a txid that could still be evicted. The poller also gains a case proving a hash the row already holds is not rewritten on every tick. A status change, a new transaction detail on the same status, and no change are now three explicit paths with early returns, rather than one combined guard feeding a ternary between two writers. Description
Chainflip and NEAR Intents swaps are paid by a plain transfer to a provider-issued address, from any wallet, so a swap can be registered from its quote before any transaction exists. Until now
getPendingTxSwapsonly selected rows with asellTxHash, so an externally paid swap sat untracked until a client reported the hash. Nothing would. The swap is now polled from registration.
@shapeshiftoss/swapper20.1.0 flags the swappers that support external payment and reports the deposit hash and tracker link fromcheckTradeStatus, so the service reads both from the swapper rather than keeping its own list or querying the providers itself.isExternallyPaid/getExternalPaymentSwappersderive the set from the swapper'ssupportsExternalPaymentflag, so a new provider needs no change here.checkSwapStatusno longer requires asellTxHashfor an externally paid swap. It passes an empty hash and takes the one the swapper reports; a wallet-signed swap without a hash is still rejected.sellTxHash, buyTxHash,txLink, or status message even when the status is unchanged, throughupdateSwapTxHashes, which does not send the status notification again. Each poll outcome is an explicit path: status changed, details changed, nothing changed.A success carries the deposit it is verified against. A shielded zcash spend has no input NEAR Intents can attribute, so the provider confirms the swap without ever reporting a deposit. Rather than settle a row with nothing to verify or attribute,
checkSwapStatusholds a provider-confirmed swap at PENDING with the message "Confirmed by provider, waiting for deposit hash" until the hash is known. That path bypasses the abandonment timeout, so an unchained outage leaves the row visibly pending rather than wrongly failed. Every other chain's hash arrives with settlement from the provider.DepositDetectionServicefinds that hash. It searches the deposit address's own history on zcash and takes the earliest mined transaction paying the address without spending from it; everything else is the provider's sweep. A mempool transaction is ignored, matching what NEAR itself acts on. It runs only for NEAR Intents zcash sells, and swallows lookup failures with a warning so a flaky node cannot fail the poll. The next poll where unchained has the deposit settles the swap.Verification and attribution both select on a non-null
sellTxHash, so they take over unchanged once it lands, with no new trigger needed. Also on this branch:
SwapStatusResponsegainstxLink; the column already existed on the row.lib/unchained.ts, shared by the block time and deposit detection services instead of each reading env.@shapeshiftoss/typesmoves to 9.0.1 so the service and the swapper share one copy.Testing
apps/swap-service: 126 tests, 11 suites, all passing.checkSwapStatus: externally paid swap polled before any deposit, provider-reported hash and link taken, chain fallback when the provider settles without a deposit, confirmed swap held pending past the timeout when no hash is found, never-funded swap abandoned, provider hash replacing one found on chain, wallet-signed swap without a hash still rejected, known hash never triggers a scan.getPendingTxSwaps: externally paid swaps without a hash included.pollPendingTxStatus: unchanged swap left alone, same hash not rewritten, message-only change written, new hash written with its status message without touching status, tracker link written on its own, status change written as before.DepositDetectionService: shielded zcash deposit found among sweeps, swept-only address returns nothing, bitcoin sell and non-NEAR swapper skipped, missing deposit address skipped, lookup error swallowed;findDepositInHistorytakes the earliest mined deposit and ignores a mempool one.vin) followed by the provider's sweep, as observed on chain.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
