Hi, I'm Stephanie!

I'm a software developer with an M.S. in Computer Science from East Carolina University with interests in software engineering, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

My experience includes building mobile and cloud-based applications and conducting graduate research in uncertainty-aware simultaneous machine translation. I enjoy solving technical problems, learning new technologies, and turning ideas into practical software.

Featured Projects

Debtrix

A mobile expense-splitting application designed to simplify splitting shared expenses.

  • Built with React Native, Expo, and TypeScript
  • Developed a serverless backend using AWS SAM and API Gateway
  • Integrated DynamoDB for persistent expense and receipt history
  • Implemented expense calculations, tipping, and split reports
  • Developed collaboratively using Git and GitHub

Mobile Translator App

A mobile application for translating text between languages and listening to translated speech.

  • Built with React Native, Expo, and TypeScript
  • Integrated translation and text-to-speech APIs
  • Implemented multilingual language selection and audio playback
  • Designed reusable components and centralized API configuration

Selected Projects

  • Vital: React Native/TypeScript + Gemini-powered emergency guidance; Pearl Hacks 2026
  • Glutten: Java/JDBC/SQL food and restaurant search application; HackNC 2024
  • Meal Plan Budgeter: C++ terminal application; 1st Place, ECU Spark Hackathon
  • World Wide Web Pastures: deployed Phaser/Firebase farming game; crop system, map, and character movement
  • Snack Bytes: JavaScript gaming platform; developed Solitaire and designed retro playing cards
  • Simulation Showcase: Three.js graphics project; developed interactive Rubik's Cube simulation

Research

My graduate research focused on uncertainty-aware simultaneous machine translation, exploring approaches for making translation decisions while source-language information is received incrementally.

I also presented research at the Frontiers in Education Conference and the Global Issues Conference, strengthening my experience communicating technical concepts to different audiences.

Tech Stack

  • Languages

    Java • Python • TypeScript • JavaScript • C++ • SQL

  • Development

React Native • Expo • REST APIs • Git • GitHub

  • Cloud & Backend
