CI: run once per pull request push - #30
Merged
Merged
Conversation
Every push to a pull request branch ran the whole workflow twice, once for the push and once for the pull request, and the jobs queued behind each other. Pushes now run CI on main only; branches are checked by their pull request, and workflow_dispatch is still there for a branch without one. A new push to a pull request cancels its run in progress; runs on main are never cancelled.

Every push to a PR branch ran the full workflow twice (
pushandpull_request), about 14 jobs instead of 7, queued behind each other on GitHub's runners. That is most of the waiting seen while merging #24-#28.pushnow triggers only onmain; branches are checked by their pull request.workflow_dispatchstays for a branch without a PR.main: each merge keeps its own run. This PR's own checks run once, from the
pull_requestevent, which is the first check of the change.
