Summary

  • Blender: Opacity slider (0-1, default 1) next to the preview colors; sent as optional face_alpha in preview_style, applied immediately like the colors.
  • Revit: GeometryStore.FaceAlpha; below 1 UseInTransparentPass is true, faces are drawn in the transparent pass (transparency in the vertex colors and on separate face effects), edges stay opaque in the opaque pass. At 1 the preview is drawn exactly as before.
  • Absent face_alpha (older Blender add-in) means opaque; out of range or non-numeric is a content error.
  • DESIGN.md, README and CHANGELOG updated. CHANGELOG Unreleased is also added by Pull linked models and name MEP elements by system #24 and Fit arcs on inclined planes as a last attempt #26: trivial conflict for whichever merges later.

Test plan

  • pytest (header carries and validates the opacity), xUnit (optional field, default opaque, change bumps the style revision, invalid values rejected), build Revit 2024-2027
  • Manual in Revit + Blender by Roberto: translucent faces, opaque edges, back to opaque at 100%

An Opacity slider next to the preview colors sends face_alpha in
preview_style (optional, absent = opaque). Below 1 the DC3D server joins
the transparent pass and draws the faces there, with the transparency in
both the vertex colors and the face effects; the edges stay opaque in the
opaque pass. At 1 nothing changes.
