Overview

PoWV — Proof of Weighted Value is a research and development protocol for connecting physical infrastructure with trustworthy digital evidence.

The project investigates how measurements, operational events, and asset observations can be captured near their source, associated with verifiable provenance, and made useful to digital systems responsible for governance, reconciliation, traceability, and real-world asset applications.

Core principle: digital trust begins before an event reaches a ledger. It begins at the point where the physical world becomes data.

PoWV is being developed by Gabriel de Almeida Santos Silva and brings together systems engineering, embedded security, edge computing, industrial traceability, and decentralized infrastructure.

The zero-mile problem

Most digital verification systems focus on protecting a record after it has been created. PoWV focuses on the boundary before that record exists: the first translation from a physical event into a digital representation.

That boundary raises three fundamental questions:

Dimension Question
Measurement quality Under what conditions was the observation produced, and how reliable is it?
Source identity Can the origin of the evidence be identified and reviewed?
Record integrity Can unauthorized changes to the resulting record be detected?

By treating these questions as a single evidence pipeline, PoWV explores stronger foundations for asset governance and downstream digital applications.

Research focus

Area What we investigate
Cyber-physical systems Translating physical observations into structured digital evidence.
Edge computing Generating and validating evidence close to its source.
Embedded security Hardware-backed identity, secure elements, and root-of-trust models.
Industrial traceability Supporting asset history, chain of custody, and operational review.
Digital twins & enterprise systems Connecting operational evidence with digital representations and business workflows.
RWA infrastructure Exploring evidence foundations for real-world asset representation and financial applications.
Efficiency evaluation Separating compact-data estimates from measured network and system performance.

Application scenarios

PoWV explores evidence-driven workflows for:

  • Rail and road freight
  • Commodity handling and industrial logistics
  • Environmental operations and material traceability
  • Infrastructure monitoring and asset governance
  • Physical-to-digital event verification

These are research and development scenarios, not claims of deployed integrations, production readiness, or commercial partnerships.

The architecture is designed to keep the origin, conditions, and integrity of an observation visible throughout its lifecycle—without treating a ledger as a substitute for trustworthy data capture.

Development status

Current stage: proof of concept in development.

Development combines software simulation, experimental bench work, security-oriented research, and technical documentation. Each validation should state what was tested, under which conditions, and which conclusions the evidence supports.

Selected software checks have been documented. Physical validation, end-to-end integration, and performance evaluation remain independent development milestones.
