build-pipeline.yml was failing before lint/tests ran because pip install .[dev] triggered setuptools package discovery on a flat repo layout (web, workflow, more_math) and aborted wheel metadata generation. This PR adjusts CI setup so dependency installation does not require building the local package.

  • Root cause addressed

    • Remove editable/local package installation path that invokes setuptools auto-discovery during CI bootstrap.
  • Workflow changes

    • Update Install dependencies in .github/workflows/build-pipeline.yml:
      • Keep python -m pip install --upgrade pip
      • Install runtime deps from requirements.txt
      • Install CI tools (pytest, ruff) explicitly
  • Net effect

    • CI environment provisioning no longer depends on packaging metadata resolution, allowing the pipeline to reach lint and test steps.
- name: Install dependencies
  run: |
python -m pip install --upgrade pip
    pip install -r requirements.txt
    pip install pytest ruff
