Download the latest release for your platform from the Releases page.
- Download the
.dmgfile for your architecture (Apple Silicon or Intel). - Open the
.dmgand dragSelect.appto yourApplicationsfolder. - On first launch, macOS will block the app because it is unsigned (no Apple Developer ID certificate). Follow the steps below based on your macOS version.
In macOS Sequoia, Apple removed the right-click/Control-click shortcut for unsigned apps. You must use System Settings:
- Double-click
Select.appto try opening it. A dialog will say the app cannot be opened. - Click OK to dismiss the dialog.
- Open System Settings > Privacy & Security.
- Scroll all the way down to the Security section.
- You will see a message:
Select was blocked from use because it is not from an identified developer. - Click Open Anyway next to that message.
- Enter your password or use Touch ID when prompted.
The app will now launch. This only needs to be done once.
If the Open Anyway button does not appear, try this terminal command first:
xattr -cr /Applications/Select.appThen attempt to open the app again and check System Settings for the button.
On older macOS versions, you can use the right-click method:
- In Finder, right-click (or Control-click)
Select.appand choose Open. - A dialog will appear. Click Open.
This bypasses Gatekeeper without going through System Settings:
xattr -cr /Applications/Select.appAfter running this, double-click Select.app normally.
This turns off Gatekeeper globally. Only do this if the other methods do not work:
sudo spctl --master-disableRe-enable it after launching the app:
sudo spctl --master-enable- Download either the
.msior the-setup.exefile. - Double-click to run the installer.
- Windows SmartScreen may show a warning because the app is unsigned. Click More info and then Run anyway.
- Follow the installer prompts. The app will be added to your Start Menu.
If SmartScreen blocks the installer entirely, right-click the file, choose Properties, check Unblock at the bottom of the General tab, and click OK before running it.
