java-school-utils

A small Java 11 library with reusable helpers for strings, arrays, lists, dates, files, validation, math, and console input.

Included utilities

  • Strings and validation
  • Arrays, lists, and sorting algorithms
  • Dates and times
  • File and simple delimited-text operations
  • Math exercises and console input

The project has no external dependencies.

Build

Requirements:

  • Java 11 or newer
  • Apache Ant

Run the tests and build the library with:

ant test
ant dist

ant dist creates:

  • dist/java-school-utils.jar
  • dist/java-school-utils-sources.jar
  • dist/javadoc/

Use the JAR

Download java-school-utils.jar from the latest release and add it to the classpath.

macOS or Linux:

javac -cp java-school-utils.jar Example.java
java -cp ".:java-school-utils.jar" Example

Windows Command Prompt:

javac -cp java-school-utils.jar Example.java
java -cp ".;java-school-utils.jar" Example

Example

import dateUtilities.DateUtils;
import stringUtilities.StringUtils;
import utilities.MathUtilities;
import validationUtilities.ValidationUtils;

public class Example {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
        System.out.println(StringUtils.capitalizeWords("hello java"));
        System.out.println(DateUtils.addDays("19/03/2026", 7));
        System.out.println(MathUtilities.greatestCommonDivisor(54, 24));
        System.out.println(ValidationUtils.isValidISBN("9780134685991"));
    }
}

Notes

  • File helpers support simple delimited text, not quoted or multiline CSV fields.
  • Integer math can overflow with very large values.
  • Recursive methods and quicksort are intended for modest inputs.
