Hi, I'm Himmat Rai 👋

Computer Science student at De Montfort University · Software Engineer · Systems and AI Infrastructure Enthusiast

I build backend services and infrastructure focused projects, with interests in distributed systems, secure software delivery, privacy-preserving AI, and performance systems engineering.

I recently completed a Software Engineering placement at NEXT, where I contributed to production supply-chain logistics systems using C#, ASP.NET Core, SQL Server, Azure, and REST APIs. My work included backend development, database design, secure service migrations, testing, deployment, and technical documentation.

Selected Work

  • Local LLM Inference Service Infrastructure
    Docker Compose-based Ollama inference service deployed on a Linux homelab server, with container isolation, persistent model storage, a Python client, Tailscale-based private access, and GitHub Actions deployment automation.

  • Containerised Parallel Compute Pipeline
    A Python, Celery, Redis, and Docker pipeline that distributed prime-factorisation work across four workers and reduced runtime by 26%.

  • Medical AI Triage - Realtime Conversational Voice Bot POC
    A real-time conversational medical voicebot prototype powered by Infremedica Engine API and built with Python, FastAPI, SQLite, Pipecat, Daily, and STT, LLM, and TTS audio processing pipeline for structured patient-intake workflows and triage.

Research

I am undertaking supervised research with a Senior Lecturer in Big Data and Machine Learning at De Montfort University. My current work explores privacy-preserving LLM inference, including fully homomorphic encryption, latency and communication-cost trade-offs, ciphertext–plaintext hybrid computation, and private adaptation approaches.
