The temp-to-repo rsync used to prepare #27 carried an older cmd/server/main.go without the version stamp, silently reverting #26. This restores it (var + -version flag + startup log line).
Lesson applied: the repo is the source of truth; scratch copies are synced from it before editing. Suite green.
