Release list
v1.159.2
Updates the SDK to bundled Codex app-server 0.159.2, with protocol types regenerated from that exact release, including its experimental schema.
All eight platform wheels and the source distribution are available on PyPI and as release assets below.
Changes
- Update the bundled app-server release and CI binary pins to
rust-v0.159.2. - Support URL and file-ID image inputs through the existing high-level input API.
- Preserve nested required nullable fields in typed RPC payloads, including unauthenticated MCP resource targets and explicit service-tier clears.
- Preserve structured errors on interrupted turns, including Guardian approval-denial errors.
- Retain new model access-program, account routing, rate-limit, managed-policy, MCP diagnostics, and feedback metadata in existing result wrappers.
- Add generated contracts for thread attachments, gateway OAuth, user verification, memory readiness, rollout compression, and item-anchored history pagination. New endpoints are available through typed raw RPC.
Migration
- Upstream removed
thread/rollback; the SDK removesrollback(). Usethread.revert(before_turn_id)to remove a turn and all later turns. Legacy history mode remains supported. - Generated
ImageUserInputis now a union wrapper. Constructprotocol.UrlUserInput(type="image", url=...)orprotocol.FileIdUserInput(type="image", fileId=...), or useprotocol.ImageUserInput.model_validate(...).
Validation
make lint: Ruff and mypy passed.make test: 272 passed, 2 skipped; 92.12% coverage.make build: wheel built successfully and its bundled binary reportscodex-app-server 0.159.2.- Protocol regeneration is reproducible apart from its timestamp.
- CI passed, including integration tests against the real bundled app-server.
- Independent correctness and Ponytail reviews passed.

v1.153.5
SDK-only maintenance release based on bundled Codex app-server 0.153.4. Generated protocol models and the supported public API signatures are unchanged.
- Preserve validated nested Python objects when invoking dynamic tools.
- Clean up cancelled requests reliably; make concurrent client shutdown and repeated stream reads deterministic.
- Keep stream owners alive during use and stop cancellation watchers when consumption ends.
- Publish generated contracts only after all stages succeed, and align release tags and artifacts to one commit.
- Remove unused stderr history, duplicated service protocols, obsolete schema-file helpers, and the disconnected schema transformer.
Changes: #21
Validation: full suite 266 passed, 2 skipped, 92.02% coverage; make lint passed. The version bump also passed seven focused package/release tests and a local wheel build.

v1.153.4
Updates the bundled Codex app-server to 0.153.4.
- Includes upstream fixes for Astra model-picker visibility, the bundled default model, and async-question guidance.
- Protocol schemas are identical to 0.153.3; no generated model changes were needed.
Validation: make lint, make build, 22 focused release/binary tests, and a live app-server initialize + config/read smoke check passed.

v1.153.3
Updates the SDK and bundled app-server to Codex 0.153.3, matching the installed release. Protocol models were regenerated from that exact binary, including experimental schemas.
Changes
- Add sync and async thread-section APIs and turn-ID-based thread revert.
- Preserve structured turn errors, async agent-message questions, auth-recovery events, and account usage metadata.
- Expose current turn options and updated protocol response types.
- Accept nullable config values returned by app-server; keep TOML override validation at serialization.
- Isolate the bundled-binary test so it cannot overwrite release assets.
Compatibility
- Upstream thread sections replace the removed pin API: use
client.thread_sections,thread.move_to_section(), andAppServerThreadListOptions(section_id=...)in place ofset_pinned()andis_pinned. - New durable threads default to paginated history when supported. Use
thread.revert(before_turn_id); count-basedrollback()remains available for legacy-history threads. - Experimental RPCs require
AppServerInitializeOptions(experimental_api=True).
Validation
RUSTUP_TOOLCHAIN=1.95.0 make lint: Ruff and mypy passed.RUSTUP_TOOLCHAIN=1.95.0 make test: 230 passed, 2 skipped.RUSTUP_TOOLCHAIN=1.95.0 make build: sdist and Linux wheel built.- Repeat protocol generation matched apart from its timestamp.
- Bundled 0.153.3 app-server initialized and completed
config/readsuccessfully.

v1.146.0
Updates the bundled Codex app-server to 0.146.0, regenerates the typed protocol, adds persisted thread pinning, and completes typed external-agent import history support.
