Summary

GET /summits/{id}/members/{member_id}/schedule and GET /summits/{id}/attendees/{attendee_id}/schedule ran a query per scheduled event for work that is already done once, or can be done once for the whole schedule.

  • Both handlers no longer call Summit::isEventOnSchedule() for every row (digest 8ba53c9f91d6, about 38 executions per second on prod-12). Member::getScheduleBySummit() already filters on e.published = 1 and on the summit, so the results are the same.
  • getScheduleBySummit() selects the event together with the schedule row (SELECT s, e), so it is not lazy-loaded once per row (digest 7aa9a9866ea7).
  • The tags, sponsors, selection status, speaker assignment order and materials preloads of getAllByPage() moved into ISummitEventRepository::preloadEventRelations(). getAllByPage() calls it, so /events behaves as before, and both schedule handlers call it for the events of the schedule before serializing.
  • The attendee handler passes expand, fields and relations to the serializer, as the member handler does. The OpenAPI spec lists the three query parameters.
  • QueryTimingCollector::$statements can collect the SQL text of the executed queries. It is null by default, so a request only pays a null check; the new tests turn it on.

Notes:

  • Behavior change: a client that sends expand, fields or relations to the attendee schedule endpoint had them ignored and now gets them applied. Clients that send none get the same payload.
  • Reusing the /events preloads does not remove every per-event query. These still grow with the number of events and are out of scope here: the speakers collection of each presentation, current_attendance_count, RSVP counts, presentation votes and the group checks of the current user (the last one is PR fix(member): route group checks through the request-scoped membership cache #654).
  • The tests assert the statements that touch the preloaded tables, not the total count, for that reason.

Test plan

  • tests/oauth2/OAuth2SummitScheduleQueryCountTest.php: for a schedule of 10 and one of 20 events, the statements on SummitEvent, Presentation, Tag, SummitEvent_Tags, SummitEvent_Sponsors, Company, PresentationMaterial and SummitSelectedPresentation are the same, on both endpoints. Against the code before this PR it fails, with those tables queried once per event.
  • The same file compares the payload of both endpoints with the schedule serialized row by row without preloads, and checks that an event unpublished after it was scheduled stays out of the response.
  • EventsEndpointPreloadQueryCountTest and EventsSelectionStatusPreloadTest still pass (the preload extraction does not change /events)
  • OAuth2AttendeesApiTest: all pass except testAddAttendeeTicket, which also fails on main when tearing down its fixtures (Can not delete ticket type ... because has sold tickets)
  • CI
  • prod-12 after deploy: digest 8ba53c9f91d6 executions drop by at least 80%, and the per-second rate of digests 4ba4d1075cf3 (tags), 3d9d619fd465 (sponsors), 970c676a4cd9 (speakers) and ea1ef4304581 (materials) before and after, to be added here

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Improvements
    • Member and attendee schedule responses now include the requested event details and related information.
    • Schedule entries are no longer omitted solely because their events are not on the summit schedule.
    • Loading schedules with many events now requires fewer repeated database queries, helping keep response data consistent as schedules grow.

The member and attendee schedule handlers called Summit::isEventOnSchedule()
for every row, a COUNT query that repeats the e.published = 1 and summit
filters Member::getScheduleBySummit() already applies in its DQL. The results
are identical, and the per-row query is gone.
getScheduleBySummit() joined the event but selected only the schedule row, so
the event behind each row was lazy-loaded one query at a time when the
schedule was serialized. Selecting it in the same DQL loads them in one go.
…ry method

Move the tags, sponsors, selection status, speaker assignment order and
materials preloads out of getAllByPage() into preloadEventRelations(), which
takes the events to preload. getAllByPage() calls it, so /events behaves as
before, and other endpoints that serialize a list of events can reuse it.
…ee schedules

Both handlers serialized each scheduled event on its own, so tags, sponsors,
materials, selection status and speaker order were queried once per event.
They now preload those relations for the whole schedule before serializing,
the same way /events does. The member controller gets the event repository
injected for it.
…edule

The attendee handler serialized every event with no arguments, which
AbstractSerializer turns into every allowed relation, so a client asking for a
subset still paid for all of them. It now passes the requested expand, fields
and relations, as the member handler does, and the OpenAPI spec lists them.
…n demand

Tests need to tell which statements a request repeats, not just how many it
ran. QueryTimingCollector::$statements collects the SQL text of every query
while it is not null. It is null by default, so requests only pay a null check.
…dpoints

For a schedule of 10 and one of 20 events, the statements that touch the
preloaded tables (events, tags, sponsors, materials, selection status) must be
the same, on the member and the attendee endpoint. The payload of both must
equal the schedule serialized without preloads, and an event unpublished after
it was scheduled must stay out of the response.

📝 Walkthrough

Member and attendee schedule endpoints now preload event relations before serialization. The change also adds optional SQL statement capture and tests for query counts, serialized payloads, unpublished events, and agreement between endpoint results.

Changes: Summit schedule event relation preloading

Layer / File(s) Summary
Batch event relation preload
app/Models/Foundation/Summit/Repositories/ISummitEventRepository.php, app/Repositories/Summit/DoctrineSummitEventRepository.php, app/Models/Foundation/Main/Member.php
The repository exposes relation preloading for supplied events, and getAllByPage uses it. The member schedule query selects schedule entries with their events.
Schedule endpoint integration
app/Http/Controllers/Apis/Protected/Summit/OAuth2SummitMembersApiController.php, app/Http/Controllers/Apis/Protected/Summit/OAuth2SummitAttendeesApiController.php
Both endpoints preload relations for schedule events and remove the summit schedule-membership check. The attendee endpoint documents and uses the requested expand, fields, and relations parameters.
Query capture and schedule validation
app/Http/Middleware/Doctrine/QueryTimingCollector.php, app/Http/Middleware/Doctrine/QueryTimingMiddleware.php, tests/oauth2/OAuth2SummitScheduleQueryCountTest.php
Query timing can optionally capture SQL statements. Tests compare query counts and payloads, verify unpublished events remain excluded, and compare event IDs from both endpoints.

289-307: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick win

Add an attendee schedule parameter-forwarding test.

The attendee schedule tests do not send non-default expand, fields, or relations values. The query-count tests send the default relations value, but assert only query counts and event IDs. A regression that drops the new serializer arguments can therefore pass these tests.

Add a request with nonempty serializer parameters and assert the filtered or expanded attendee schedule payload.
