Molecular neuroscientist at the Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases, University of California, San Francisco. I use single-nucleus and spatial transcriptomics to study how glia and neurons change in the aging and degenerating human brain.
Current work
- Nasu-Hakola disease: what DAP12 (TYROBP) loss does to human microglia and the tissue around them — snRNA-seq and Visium of frontal cortex and hippocampus (code: NHD-frontal-hippocampus-snRNAseq-Visium).
- Layer I astrocytes in schizophrenia (anterior cingulate cortex; SCZ_ACC_L1_Astrocytes).
- APOE and synapses in human cortex.
Methods I work with: 10x Chromium snRNA-seq, Visium, Cell Ranger / Space Ranger, Seurat, Harmony, BANKSY, cell2location, MAST and pseudobulk DESeq2, fgsea, CellChat; R and Python.
Background: PhD work on CAGE transcriptomics; postdoctoral research at RIKEN (Yokohama) on the aging brain before moving to UCSF.
