Both contribution READMEs tell contributors to merge upstream/main, but this repository has no main branch. A fresh clone of a contributor's fork also does not have an upstream remote configured.

Update the English and Chinese instructions to explain the one-time upstream setup and explicitly synchronize the local v5.6 branch with upstream/v5.6, using a fast-forward merge and a push to origin. Explain how to use another target branch and handle divergent histories.

Validation:

  • Reproduced the original missing-upstream and missing-main errors.
  • Ran the literal synchronization command blocks from each README against local bare upstream/fork repositories with an incoming upstream commit; both the local branch and fork reached the upstream commit.
  • Confirmed that --ff-only rejects divergent histories and preserves the local commit.
  • git diff --check passed.

The validation ran with Git for Windows. All pushes during validation targeted local fixture repositories.
