WebWindows Update: Retirement of 7H07 and 8H08
We have an important update regarding the future of WebWindows 12.
7H07 & 8H08 Are Retiring
Following the release of 10H10 build 2610125 experimental and the upcoming 10H10 build 2610130 beta, we are officially announcing that 7H07 and 8H08 will be retired. It has been a historic journey, and we thank everyone who has been a part of this era.
A New Era for WebWindows
Moving forward, we are shifting our development strategy. Instead of releasing a new version for every major update, we will streamline our focus on two to three core versions: 9H09, 10H10, and potentially 11H11 by request.
Future updates, whether they involve UI changes or feature enhancements, will be integrated directly into these existing versions rather than requiring a version number change. We will provide a more in-depth breakdown of this transition in the next section.
Licensing Update
With the retirement of the Avlaora™-based 7H07 and 8H08, our usage guidelines have been updated. You are no longer required to follow sections 9, 10, 11, 12, or 14 from (https://github.com/Fppps/Win12/blob/main/AVLAORA_USAGE.md). Please note that all other sections of the guidelines remain in effect.
Version 9H09, 10H10 & 11H11
Why isn't 9H09 leaving?
Following the release(s) of 10H10 experimental & the deletion of 7H07 & 8H08, will 9H09 also go?
Simple answer: no.
9H09 will be updated along with 10H10, so people can have 2 (or 3) versions instead of 1 version of WebWindows for a user to use.
Monthly updates will remain intact (if needed) with the new changes. 9H09 is the second most favored version among users.
That's why 9H09 will still be available to users.
Sustainability and Future Development Roadmap
Longevity of 10H10
The long-term maintenance of the 10H10 release will depend on ongoing development activity. Should project development enter a period of inactivity, 10H10 will remain in its current state until further updates are prompted by future requirements or renewed interest.
Potential Development of 11H11
The initiation of an 11H11 release cycle will be contingent upon user feedback and community demand following the official release of 10H10.
If there is sufficient interest, 11H11 will be developed with an expanded feature set; otherwise, our development efforts will remain focused on providing continued support and updates for both the 10H10 and 9H09 versions. I'll create a poll on YouTube for 11H11.
