This README was refreshed on 2026-10-17 to give a clean, friendly overview of the project and quick instructions for local development and updates.
This repository contains the source files for my personal website and blog. It may be a plain static site (HTML/CSS/JS), a site generated with a static site generator (e.g. Jekyll, Hugo), or a framework-based site. The README below is intentionally generic so it applies regardless of the tooling in use.
Site URL: https://foxphantom203.github.io
If the site doesn't appear immediately after a change, GitHub Pages may take a minute to rebuild and publish updates.
-
Clone the repo:
git clone https://github.com/FoxPhantom203/foxphantom203.github.io.git cd foxphantom203.github.io
-
If the site is a static HTML/CSS/JS site, you can preview it with a simple local server:
-
Python 3: python -m http.server 8000 Open http://localhost:8000 in your browser.
-
Node (serve): npx serve .
-
-
If the site uses Jekyll (common for github.io repos):
- Install Ruby and Bundler, then run: bundle install bundle exec jekyll serve Open http://localhost:4000
-
If the project uses another generator (Hugo, Gatsby, Next.js, etc.), check the repo for README or package.json scripts for exact commands (e.g.
npm install && npm run dev).
- Edit HTML / markdown files in the repository, commit, and push. GitHub Pages will automatically rebuild the site from the default branch (usually
mainormaster) unless configured otherwise in repository settings. - If you're using a static site generator, edit source files (often in
_posts,content/, orsrc/) and run the local build step before pushing.
- Ensure the default branch configured for GitHub Pages contains the site source (Repository Settings → Pages).
- If you use Jekyll and rely on GitHub's build, avoid unsupported plugins — build locally for plugin-heavy sites and deploy the generated output to the
gh-pagesbranch or the repository root. - Keep images and assets in a clear folder (e.g.,
assets/,images/) and reference them with relative paths.
- Fork the repository.
- Create a feature branch:
git checkout -b feature/your-change. - Make changes, run/build locally to verify.
- Commit and push, then open a pull request describing the change.
Unless otherwise specified in a LICENSE file, the repository is © FoxPhantom203. Add a LICENSE file if you want to open-source your site content under a specific license (MIT, CC-BY, etc.).
