example-docker-hello

Deploy to FadeHost

A minimal web app that ships its own Dockerfile, used to demonstrate and test building an app image from a repository.

  • server.js listens on PORT (8080 by default) and answers / and /health.
  • Dockerfile builds it on node:22-alpine and runs it as an unprivileged user.

Running it locally

docker build -t example-docker-hello .
docker run --rm -p 8080:8080 example-docker-hello

Notes for hosting

The app runs as uid 10001 with a read only root filesystem. Write anything you need to keep to /data, and anything temporary to /tmp.
