Make Fix findings and Resolve conflicts in this thread visible one-click PR actions
#19829
Make fixing PR findings and resolving merge conflicts in the current thread directly accessible from the linked PR block in one click.
Current experience
The PR block exposes prominent actions that start a new thread:
Fix ↗: the tooltip says “Fix the failing checks in a new thread.”
Resolve ↗: the tooltip says “Check the branch out and resolve the conflicts in a new thread.”
“Fix findings in this thread” already exists, but is tucked away in the PR's three-dot menu, alongside actions such as “Explain this PR” and “Convert to draft.” Using it requires opening the menu and selecting the item each time.
When iterating on a PR in the thread that already contains the implementation context and prior decisions, continuing there is a frequent action. The same preference applies when merge conflicts appear: I want a readily accessible way to ask the current thread's agent to resolve them.
Proposed UI
Expose “Fix findings in this thread” as a visible, one-click action in the PR block.
Provide the equivalent visible, one-click “Resolve conflicts in this thread” action when the PR has merge conflicts.
Clearly distinguish this thread from a new thread before clicking, through labels or explicit tooltips. Keep the new-thread actions available.
Compact buttons alongside the existing Fix / Resolve controls would work if space is tight. Reuse the existing in-thread fix behavior; the goal is easier access and a consistent destination choice for both actions.
Acceptance criteria
Users can invoke “Fix findings in this thread” directly from the PR block in one click, without opening the overflow menu.
When merge conflicts are present, users can invoke “Resolve conflicts in this thread” directly from the same block in one click.
Both in-thread actions target the current conversation and its workspace/branch context without creating another thread.
Labels or tooltips clearly identify the destination for both Fix and Resolve.
The existing new-thread options remain available and distinguishable.
The promoted Fix action preserves the current menu item's availability conditions and behavior; Resolve is offered when applicable to the PR's conflict state.
This request is about making the current-thread workflow more accessible and applying the same interaction pattern to Fix and Resolve.
