Partner with the OpenRoot Developer Program

Help builders keep building

Support developers who build innovative GitHub projects and attract genuine use. Provide useful credits, subscriptions, or developer tools when projects reach transparent, verified milestones.

We are seeking founding partners for a small, bounded pilot. OpenRoot reports initial offers, and builder milestone claims are open for manual review. Funding, fulfillment terms and provider authorization must be confirmed for each offer before issuance. No official provider sponsorship is implied.

Ways to help

  • Reward partner: offer authorized recipient licenses, gift subscriptions, or direct credit grants.
  • Cohort partner: support a limited set of projects with a clearly capped reward inventory.
  • Technical partner: offer relevant mentoring, office hours, or project support. These supplement the program rather than masquerading as a paid reward.

An optional financial sponsor could fund purchases from the non-cash reward catalog. This requires a separate agreed budget and fulfillment process. Developers would still receive benefits rather than cash payments.

What we can offer

An agreed pilot can include transparent partner acknowledgment, publication/social coverage of relevant projects, links to their public work, and an aggregate report on verified outcomes and reward redemption where available.

Member-project promotion through OpenRoot's publication and socials is completely free of charge, on a best-effort basis. Participation does not prevent builders from entering hackathons or other activities.

Promotion is not limited to one feature. Projects may appear multiple times in the newsletter and on social channels through project highlights, showcases and in-depth articles. Builders can send releases, substantial updates and user stories to hello@openroot.dev for editorial consideration. This support is completely free of charge and does not require earning or redeeming a reward. Timing and format depend on editorial fit and available capacity; OpenRoot does not guarantee repeat coverage, reach or results.

We do not promise an audience size, guaranteed customer conversions, favorable editorial coverage, exclusivity, or access to applicant emails. Public acknowledgment requires permission. Sponsor support does not purchase control of the program's success decisions.

Make a small first commitment

Tell us the benefit you can provide, how many developers or projects it can support, its duration/credit amount, eligible accounts and countries, expiry, redemption method, and any billing obligations. A provider should explicitly authorize use in this milestone-based program. Ordinary non-transferable signup or startup credits are not a redistributable prize pool.

Community hackathons and ambassadors

We plan internal community hackathons and partner-backed public events. We are seeking partners, co-hosts and local ambassadors around the world. A preferred direction is reusable open-source software addressing practical community needs, such as volunteer coordination, repair initiatives or accessible resource directories. These are possible themes, not announced events, beneficiaries or prizes. Dates, rules and any funded rewards will be published before registration.

Express ambassador interest by email to partner@openroot.dev. An expression of interest is not an appointment or authority to represent OpenRoot, commit spending, promise rewards or access repositories. Responsibilities, expenses, any compensation and safeguards must be agreed first; participants are not expected to fund event costs personally.

A developing public-goods initiative

The OpenRoot Public Goods Fund is an initiative in development, not a separate legal fund or an open donation program. We intend newsletter advertising, future merchandise income and partner support to sustain public-benefit open-source work alongside staff, operations and reserves. No fixed revenue share or per-subscription contribution is pledged. A free newsletter signup is audience support, not a donation. Restricted sponsor funding follows its agreed purpose.
